Heel	Leather 1/4 Rubber Tip	Soles and Heels Goodyear welted leather sole This is what Northampton manufactures are traditionally known for. The sole is stitched to a welt which means the shoe gives great comfort & excellent shape retention. Welted Rubber soles This is similar to the “Goodyear welted Leather sole” construction except the sole material is Rubber giving harder wear & better water resistant properties. Leather Sole Rubber Fore Part This gives all the benefits of a leather sole but the added flexibility & durability of a rubber fore part. Cemented Leather Sole A construction using specialised adhesives in place of stitched welts to bond the upper to the sole. This gives lightness in weight & appearance that the welted construction cannot. Moccasin Construction This provides a very light flexible & comfortable shoe. A bag of Leather is formed by Hand stitching an apron & the sole is then stitched or glued to the upper.
Last	Z160 Last / elongated	Last The LAST is the foot shape that the shoe uppers are pulled over & secured on during manufacturing to obtain the shape. The lasts are given numbers or names to denote their individual characteristics such as toe shape & depth etc. Traditional Lasts are made from wood but now more commonly plastic ones are used these days.

Elastication is the hidden feature we have incorporated into the Dunkeld brogue. If you find laces fiddly but want a formal shoe, rather than a Chelsea boot or loafer, it can be hard to find anything that looks sleek and formal. Dunkeld is both, with a faux leather lace and delicate leather pieces covering the elastication. Under a suit leg, these are stunning. Please note that we would only advise using a gentle wax-based cream or polish to protect carefully hand-finished shoes such as these. Harsh products such as renovating creams, high solvent based products and rain protectors may strip the carefully applied finish. If this happens we will not be able to refund the shoes although we may be able to get them re-finished at the factory for you at your cost. The Z160 last is a very elegant shape with a chiselled toe box giving a bespoke appearance. This is a standard fitting shoe so you can confidently order your normal UK size. Bear in mind that the toe is elongated so it may seem very roomy at the front but this does not make it too big. It should fit across your foot and your heel should not slip if it is the correct size.

Shoes that are made to fit the same size foot will vary in physical size due to differences in last (shoe) shapes. For this reason we cannot measure shoes to fit your feet.

Please note that F is the normal width fitting. if you do not usually buy wider fitting shoes and you don’t struggle buying off the shelf shoes that fit you, please order F fitting. If you do have wider feet and find you often need to size up to get the width right, then G would be more suitable as they are 3-5mm wider without the added length.
